The Mission of the California Association of Youth Commissions (CAYC):

Youth commissions represent a powerful tool for adolescents to help solve the issues that affect them locally. However, youth commissions face challenges: they are not easy to form, can be challenging to sustain, and can face barriers in effecting change. Furthermore, access to youth commissions has not been socioeconomically equitable.

Therefore, our goals are to:

• Share best practices and priorities in order to create and sustain youth commissions in California

• Improve access to empower youth to form youth commissions in all cities and counties in California

• As a group, formulate policy for teens on the state level on issues important to youth
